Epoxy Floor Coatings

High-performance garage, shop, and commercial floor coatings installed with diamond-ground surface preparation for a bond that lasts. Serving Lexington, KY and Central Kentucky.

What We Do

Professional Epoxy Coatings for Every Floor

Bare concrete garage floors pit, stain, and dust. A multi-coat epoxy system seals the surface, resists chemicals, and cleans with a hose. CAG Enterprises preps every floor with diamond grinding — not acid etching — so the coating bonds and stays bonded through Central Kentucky's temperature swings.

From residential garages in Lexington to warehouse floors off I-75, CAG installs epoxy coating systems engineered for the specific demands of your space.

Finish Options

Choose Your Floor Finish

Every space has different demands. CAG offers four finish categories to match your floor's function and your design preferences.

Solid Color

Clean, uniform coverage in a wide range of colors. Ideal for commercial spaces, workshops, and utility areas where a professional, easy-to-clean surface matters most.

Metallic Epoxy

Swirling, pearlescent pigments create a one-of-a-kind floor with depth and movement. Popular for showrooms, man caves, and high-end garage conversions.

Flake / Chip

Multi-colored vinyl flakes broadcast into the wet epoxy create a granite-like appearance that hides imperfections and adds slip resistance. The most popular garage floor finish.

Quartz

Colored quartz granules produce an extremely durable, textured surface with superior slip resistance. Ideal for commercial kitchens, veterinary clinics, and restrooms.

Why Epoxy

Benefits of Epoxy Floor Coatings

Extreme Durability

Epoxy coatings withstand heavy foot traffic, vehicle tires, dropped tools, and equipment loads without chipping or peeling when properly applied over diamond-ground concrete.

Chemical Resistance

Resistant to oil, gasoline, brake fluid, antifreeze, and most household chemicals. Spills sit on the surface instead of soaking into the concrete.

Easy to Clean

The seamless, non-porous surface wipes clean with a mop or hose. No grout lines, no crevices, no places for dirt, dust, or bacteria to hide.

Showroom Aesthetics

Transform a dull gray slab into a high-gloss, professional-looking floor that brightens the entire space by reflecting overhead lighting.

Our Process

How We Install Your Epoxy Floor

Every CAG epoxy installation follows a six-step process. No shortcuts, no skipped steps — because surface prep determines coating lifespan.

01

Surface Preparation

Diamond grinding removes the top layer of concrete, opens the pores, and creates a surface profile the epoxy can mechanically bond to. CAG never uses acid etching -- diamond grinding is the only prep method that produces a reliable, long-term bond on Central Kentucky concrete.

02

Crack & Joint Repair

Existing cracks are routed and filled with flexible polyurea filler. Expansion joints are addressed so the coating system moves with the slab instead of cracking over it.

03

Primer Coat

A penetrating epoxy primer seals the concrete and establishes the chemical bond between the substrate and the build coats above it.

04

Base Coat Application

The high-solids epoxy base coat is applied at the proper mil thickness to deliver the coating system's structural strength and chemical resistance.

05

Decorative Layer

Metallic pigments, vinyl flakes, quartz granules, or additional color coats are applied based on the finish you selected. This is where the floor gets its final look.

06

Clear Top Coat

A UV-stable polyaspartic or urethane top coat seals everything in, adds gloss, and provides the abrasion and chemical resistance that protects the system for years.

Common Questions

Epoxy Floor Coating FAQ

How long does an epoxy floor coating last?

A properly installed epoxy floor coating lasts 10-20 years in a residential garage and 5-10 years in high-traffic commercial or industrial settings. Longevity depends on surface preparation quality, coating thickness, and the demands placed on the floor. CAG's diamond-ground prep and multi-coat systems are engineered for maximum lifespan in Central Kentucky conditions.

Why does CAG use diamond grinding instead of acid etching?

Acid etching is cheaper and faster, but it only cleans the surface -- it doesn't create the mechanical profile epoxy needs to bond permanently. Diamond grinding physically abrades the concrete, opening pores and creating a CSP (Concrete Surface Profile) of 2-3 that gives the primer something to grip. On Central Kentucky's dense concrete, acid etching frequently leads to coating failure within 1-2 years.

Can you coat a garage floor with existing stains or old paint?

Yes. Diamond grinding removes old paint, sealers, tire marks, oil stains, and the weak surface layer of the concrete. The grinding process exposes fresh, clean concrete that accepts the primer coat. If the existing slab is structurally sound, it can be coated regardless of its current surface condition.

How long before I can walk on or park on the new floor?

Light foot traffic is typically allowed after 24 hours. Vehicle traffic usually requires 72 hours of cure time, though this varies with temperature and humidity. CAG provides specific return-to-service timelines for every project based on the coating system used and current conditions.

Is epoxy flooring slippery when wet?

A smooth, high-gloss epoxy surface can be slippery when wet. CAG addresses this by adding anti-slip aggregate to the top coat on every floor where wet conditions are expected -- garages, commercial kitchens, shop floors, and any space near exterior doors. Flake and quartz finishes also provide natural texture that improves traction.

What is the difference between epoxy and polyaspartic coatings?

Epoxy is the base coat that provides adhesion, build thickness, and chemical resistance. Polyaspartic is a faster-curing, UV-stable top coat that protects the epoxy from yellowing and adds abrasion resistance. CAG uses both in a hybrid system: epoxy for the foundation layers and polyaspartic for the top coat. This combination outperforms either product used alone.
